Samuel Watts, Licensed Massage Therapist

Sam grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from Bennington College where he studied sustainable community systems. He began his time in New Mexico in 2012, living, cooking and studying contemplative practice as a resident at Upaya Zen Center for two years. During this time, he also completed Wilderness EMT training with the National Outdoor Leadership School. Wanting to have more of a hands-on connection to his patients, Samdecided to expand his practice areas to include massage therapy and enrolled at the Santa Fe School of Massage. He received his licensure in 2014 and has worked in both private client and spa settings since graduating.

Currently, in addition to his private practice, Sam serves as an instructor at the Santa Fe School of Massage, where he assists in a variety of classes including healing quality of touch, nurturing therapeutic massage and integrative deep tissue massage. He has also completed his yoga teacher training and certification through Yoga Source in Santa Fe. In all his pursuits and experiences, Sam has a strong orientation toward learning from– and sharing knowledge with– his patients and students.

Sam brings a special attention to each client’s unique circumstance and works collaboratively to support them in their healing processes so they can discover their own most effective approaches to wellness. He believes in the body’s innate ability for healing and he enjoys the process of assisting patients to realize a more integrated potential in their body-mind.

Sam is an avid outdoor enthusiast, musician and visual artist. In 2016, he through-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia and gained a new appreciation for the beauty and therapeutic benefit of immersion in the natural world.
